Hmmm, it isn't 10mb, but it is an improvement.

(max of 256KB/s now averaging at 450, although it's stayed at 600 for a few seconds. This is from my newsgroup provider, where my 2mb line was maxed all the time, so I assume I would max a 10mb line as well)

Are you seriously suggesting that the noise that is downloaded is MUSIC?

Just because it doesn't happen to be to your taste doesn't mean it's not music.

:D :D :D :D

yep just lots of people downloading c**p

I was told by a Telewest Customer Relations Executive (who happened to be standing on the drive having a smoke) that we have been upgraded to 4meg, but I haven't noticed it... a test on ADSL guide still gives results of 967kbps down and 120 kbps up though.

Expertec, have you tried rebooting your modem?

NTL customers can try this link I found:

https://autoreg.autoregister.net/cgi/cablet...d_tiermigration

Tried this out, and I get an on screen message to the effect that the stated user name is NOT associated with this cable modem. I have checked with NTL and they cannot tell me why I get this message. They cannot tell me when I am likely to be updated,

Just added a screen dump of my new found speed.

I gave blueyonder tech support a call this morning, as my 10mb connection was being reported as a 1.9mb connection and dowloads were crawling at 450kbps.

After a few tests i managed to self diagnose that my 802.11b router (has a max wireless speed of 10mbps)cannot handle the connection!

So i have had to pop to a high street retailer to purchase 7.5m of cat 5 cable, and all is fine at the moment.

Funny thing is, for the price i paid for the cable, i can buy a referbished wireless router on eBay which will work!

Still, i couldnt wait :D

Hmm.... I'm going from 1.1 to 2 mps in 10 days ..with an automatic switch to 8 megs when it comes to my area .. I'm somewhat surprised ..that the London exchanges have not all been l enabled yet ....!

its a bit nobbies nuts ..innit

If you think about it, why should London come first? We all pay our tax's etc. There is life north of Watford.
