deuces wild
Post your picks for movie remakes that were better than the original. Here are mine: The Fly and Cape Fear
Thos
I can't think of a single one.By the nature of things, if a remake is planned, the original must have been a top film, hence a remake would find it difficult to be as good, let alone better.Thos. :)
deuces wild
I can't think of a single one.By the nature of things, if a remake is planned, the original must have been a top film, hence a remake would find it difficult to be as good, let alone better.Thos. :) And several remakes have achieved that, including the two I listed. A remake can be better than the original. A difficult task but certainly not impossible. ;)
dadyassa
I`m with Thos on this, I haven`t seen any as good as the original yet.   Just thought of the original Flash Gordon serial I used to watch at Saturday morning pictures at the Odeon. You could see the strings on the rockets.
Tankus
Day of the Jackal ..was not too bad Italian job .... Nikita ....and get Carter were worse Still not decided on War of the worlds ...far too much cheese in the endingThe Thing (Carpenters version was definitely better ) King Kong ...? not seen the new one yet ..but it looks good ..last one was nobby Planet of the apes ...better Japanese ..then US remake ...Ring ....... the jap one really creeped me out ..But the US one was good tooMagnificent seven /samurai ..about the same ..... The Clint Eastwood western was better than the original samurai Ran ...king Lear ..prefere Ran ..as it feels so far from Shakespeare as for Flash Gordon ...see Flesh Gordon ...what a laugh ...If somewhat camp god ..then there are the airport films ,,,nuff saidonly one that spring to mind offhand

Thos
Fay Wray rules !!! Plasticine is much scarier than any feeble CGI creation.   Just thought of the original Flash Gordon serial I used to watch at Saturday morning pictures at the Odeon. You could see the strings on the rockets. You are older than I thought if you can remember those Sat. morning flea-pit films. They finished each episode with our hero in an impossible to get out situation, yet next Saturday there was always a get out. "With one bound he was free"As for King Kong, I suspect distance lends enchantment. I enjoyed it and, sucker that I am, I enjoyed the King Kong ride at Universal studios too, even the banana breath.Thos. :)
