deuces wild Posted January 26, 2006 Report Share Posted January 26, 2006 .......summer vacation plans? :) We made reservations for a week at a cottage on South Bass Island Put-In-Bay) on Lake Erie ( http://www.put-in-bay.com ). The week is basically one of swimming, tubing, water skiing, drinking (while at the cottage) and eating. We will be joined by another family staying at another cottage site, with our son and daughter visiting us with friends as their schedule permits. We plan to bring our shiney new (for us although it is a 1997 model) 20 foot runabout with us to get us out on the water........most likely towing it with us and carrying it on the ferry to the island. http://tinyurl.com/duxzu So how about you? Nor to Spain!I will visit my family in Switzerland (parents, brothers' families), and on the way back stop in Hoi An (Viet Nam). No boat, but hopefully some swimming. 'Er indoors has had a very rough time of late with her arthritis, due mainly to the manufacturers of one of her treatments stopping making it. She has always wanted to see Monet's garden, so I have swallowed my pride and booked up to take her in July. She is thrilled to bits. 'Er indoors has had a very rough time of late with her arthritis, due mainly to the manufacturers of one of her treatments stopping making it. She has always wanted to see Monet's garden, so I have swallowed my pride and booked up to take her in July. She is thrilled to bits. If anyone knows a friendly terrorist who will supply me with a small atomic bomb, I will leave it behind when we leave. :DI really cannot understand. That sounds a superb laid back holiday. Wonderful countryside, should be great food and usually reasonably priced comfortable accommodation.Count your blessings and leave it intact for others to enjoy.For my part, I have only yesterday booked a cruise in late May from Vancouver to Alaska returning from Anchorage. We hope to see the grizzly bears that ate that american and his girl friend recently. -pops- Posted January 27, 2006 Report Share Posted January 27, 2006 Having travelled and lived overseas for so long and so often in my working days, it wouldn't bother me if I never saw the inside of an airport, aircraft, train station, train or boat ever again.One of the big problems, I suppose, was the short time scale of the visits, a few weeks here, a few there, never able to get a proper feel of a place or its inhabitants before the airport beckoned for me to return home and then move on to another (I'm sure very nice) country/state/city/town.As I live quite close to the English South Coast, that's where my vacations will be for the forseeable future. We saw my daughter last weekend at Ohio State with no planning other than calling for a hotel 2 days before. Some events/vacations need some planning. Trying to book a cottage or campsite during the summer at the islands is impossible. Some folks book a year ahead fo time.
