.........how much vacation time do you get from your job? B)

I used to work for an international company based in Zurich and remember hearing from my colleagues in Europe about the extraordinary amount of vacation time they got, most especially those in Germany with up to 2 months of vacation.

With my present employer I get 3 weeks plus 7 PTO days (paid time off which includes sick days) and 7 holidays.

So how much vacation/time off time do you get?

(If you are getting the idea that I no longer like to work.........you are right. I am starting to see the light at the end of the working tunnel though and have only about 4 or 5 years before retirement.)

PS: andsome and Thos, no need to answer as I know you both get 52 weeks of vacation every year now.....and probably well earned. :)

I'm 55yrs old and I have 30yrs of pensionable service......so another 10yrs for a full pension.

I doubt I will last that long and retire early....but you have to do something don't you? I can't sit around all day looking for something to do :D

My wife has been retired for almost 2 years and has painted every room in our house. She is now doing the ceilings.

She also joined a health club and works out for an hour 4 times/week. She is looking fine. B)

She thought about picking up a part time job but everything she interviewed for so far is way too stressful.........something she does not need in her retirement years. She may volunteer at a local hospital walking patients around in wheelchairs.

I get 4 weeks, plus about 5 days of New Year holidays and 3 days "summer vacation". I am the only person in our company who takes all the holidays; most others take only the New Years holidays (which this year I spent mostly at the office on an emergency case) and the "summer vacation".
