robj
Logitech MX 700 optical mouseJust started happening - when mouse is stationary the "pointer icon" starts to wander down the screen. It takes about 10 secs to get from top to bottom. Clearly it is difficult to position accurately.Any suggestions please? I have cleaned the contacts and the battery level is good. rong
are you using a patterned mat, If so that could be your problem
Gandalph
Try a piece of white thin card. I use one, cut to the shape of my mouse mat and lay on the top, and my mouse (Nortek) works a treat. It used to wander a little before I started using the card. robj
are you using a patterned mat, If so that could be your problemI don't use a mat at all. I was advised that it wasn't necessary for an optical mouse.
Gandalph
Try a white sheet of printing paper on your desk and see if that stops it.
-pops-
I always use a sheet of white paper as a mouse mat. It doubles up as a scribbling/doodle/note pad.Ensure the mouse rests on a level surface. If this is severe, check your system for anything called "Crazy Mouse". This is a piece of so-called joke software that causes the mouse to behave erratically but it is usually more pronounced than what you are experiencing. artist
No mouse mat for me either - I made mine from a piece of thin card covered with a few sheets of plain paper. Lasts ages and is bigger - and as Pops says, it's a good note pad too. Much better contact than the slippy bought ones. :)
andsome
Look in ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS for Crazy Mouse, if it is not there go to Start/Search and type Crazy Mouse. If you get no result it is unlikely that you are infected with this problem.
r4may
No mat for me either, I just use the top of the desk.Get occasional mouse wander when it wants a clean. ( even opticals get a bit dusty ). :P
robj
Thanks for replies/suggestions.All is now ok! Closed down last night still "wandering". Fired up today and problem gone! Haven't a clue why. Perhaps the battery charge was not as good as indicated, and a night's charging did the trick.
