deuces wild Posted July 4, 2006 Report Share Posted July 4, 2006 1. My son's car broke down last week. Had to be towed and a new ignition switch installed. $6502. Our boat engine overheated last Saturday and the boat had to be towed in. We may be looking at having to replace the engine.3. Our basement flooded today......sump pump died after a series of torrential rain. I replaced the sump pump ($250) and we had to call in an emergency crew to mitigate the damages. Spent a good part of the day getting things off the floor and salvaging what we could. Our basement is finished with drywall and carpeting. The professional water extraction, carpet removal and floor clean up/disinfectant will cost us $5,000, especially since we had to call them in on a holiday (4th of July). We will then have to replace the carpeting and molding for another $2,500.All this happened within the past 6 days. And all this happened while putting 2 kids through college.I am now having a stiff drink or 2........or 3..........or 4............................. This will be a 4th of July we will never forget. I know how the effects of a flooded basement can be first hand, OK i was a kid at the time but our old Victorian house used to flood in the basement every 4 years or so, the basement was a dinning room, kitchen, and bathroom at the time, i don't know how my parents coped with it all.Well good luck for the future, you deserve it.Tony Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
