I most definately do not agree that Islam is the problem. Islam is an extremely peaceful religion if you took the time to look and the vast majority of muslims reflect this. It is a very small number of extremists that are the problem. Again the vast majority of muslim preachers condone terrorism. Look into your facts before you speak.

In a survey I read of today 63% of a representative sample in the UK felt that Islam, as distinct from fundamentalist Islamic groups, poses only a small or no threat to Western liberal democracy. 32% fell that Islam does pose a threat (I thought that a surprisingly high figure, and cause for concern) whilst 5% said "I dunno".

However, one of the problems is that they are reluctant to give information on their brothers and sisters.

No the problem is definitely Islam and its more radical fundamentalists - but that is not the only problem - as to my mind the biggest one is that 99.9% of other Muslims will not under any circumstances report what are clearly terrorist type activites to the authorities.

Nine out of 10 of those questioned also said they would inform police if they suspected a fellow Muslim was planning a terror attack. But 5% said they would not tell anyone.

Mr & Mrs Patel being Indian and most likely Hindu religion are not a problem and fit in and are usually gainfully employed, middle class too.

So you're suggesting that this is a class problem? Predominantly poor, working class Muslims complain (allegedly) about the flying of the St George cross or Union Jack? And that if we ignore these complaints that you allege are made by them, they will set off bombs?

Still havent mentioned your country Sir T.

All I have done is talk about the UK. What more do you want me to say? I'm confused and have clearly missed your point somewhere along the line.

------

Sikhs riding motorcycles without helmets are not breaking any law. If the law is ridiculous, blame those that passed it. Another law that should, in my opinion, bother you more, is the one that lets foreign diplomats get away with virtual murder. Not some guy who wears a turban rather than a crash helmet and is only a risk to himself.

With the media led, Downing Street fed hysteria running rampage just now, I'm not at all shocked by those figures. Survey Iran a Muslim country and ask them if they think the West is a threat to their way of life. I'll pay a 1000 to 1 if their perceptions are not that they are under greater threat. But then they do have very genuine reasons that far outweigh our own to believe it to be true.

So I repeat; I have lived in England for :censored: years and have NEVER heard a foreigner complain about the flying of our flag.

p.s. South African wine rocks :P

The word 'Iran' should not be in this sentence. I was editing 2 sentences and this word slipped through the net. Please ignore it. :)

Er our Civil War, the American one ( meaning the Tea Party one), WWW's I & II, I think! The Boer War. To name but a couple or three.

I think if you checked the facts you would change your mind on a couple or three of those.

Lets just say the countries involved were mainly of different religions then ;) ;)

Just a few of the religions involved in the English Civil War....

Anabaptists, Independents, Anglicans, Presbyterians, Baptists, Puritans,Congregationalists, Quakers, Fifth Monarchists, Roman Catholics

Hello SirT. How are you keeping by the way?

Your correct. They are not breaking the law by riding without crash helmets and that is not the point. Point being they are the only ones allowed to do so and they forced this change of British law by insisting it was their right not to remove their head dress to place a crash helmet on. They played the racist/religion card at the time, not the British people, or Government.

I have no problem with any race, religion or skin colour. I do have a slight problem with people who choose to live in this country for many reasons but then try to change all the laws to suit themselves. If I choose to live in any other country than Great Britain, I will abide by their law. :)

Was religion the reason for this war or was it a tyranical king?

Woops meant do not condone terrorism hope that clears it up for you deuces

Not really as I was referring to your statement that "I most definately do not agree that Islam is the problem. Islam is an extremely peaceful religion if you took the time to look and the vast majority of muslims reflect this.".

They want you, your family, all Christians, all Jews and all westerners not of the Islam faith dead.

You are an infidel who they want to kill.

Some interpretations of the Koran claim that it actually says to cut off the head of all infidels.

Peaceful my #@s.

Steady on chaps. This is a good debate so far, don't let it degenerate into an argument. Please try to give a source when quoting facts/figures on any aspect. Keep it going, express your views but remember it is a public forum for all to read. I don't want to see anyone falling out over this. :)

Hi Djohn. Hope you and yours are tickity boo! :)

They 'campaigned' legitimately and won the day. It may not please everyone, but it is all part and parcel of living in a tolerant society. If laws weren't challenged and changed by the minority, we would still have slavery and women wouldn't have the vote. However, if a Sikh riding his Honda 50 without a helmet actuallly has a negative impact upon the majority, I would fully support a change of law.

I do have a slight problem with people who choose to live in this country for many reasons but then try to change all the laws to suit themselves.

A bit of an exaggeration don't you think?

What about anyone born in this country? Would it be ok for them to campaign for changes they would like to see implemented, be they political or religious based reasons? If they are UK born and bred, they are entitled to ask for whatever they want, right? It worries me that people here are advocating we disenfranchise a large number of people living in our country. To afford them less rights and opportunities than their neighbours is to create a sub-class and therein lies the breeding ground for resentmenful and angry radicals. This in turn leads to all sorts of nasty places that we do not want to re-visit.

So, if we let them into the UK, we must give them equal rights. To campaign for whatever they want being one just one of those rights. If that isn't acceptable, then don't let them into the country in the first place, but to let them in and then insist that they live as second class citizens seems very wrong to me.

resentmenful
should read 'resentfull'

Oh I despise this lack of an editing button! If I wasn't only half English, I'd campaign for a change :D

Aren't the English the ones that are loosing their rights. I do mean the English as opposed to British.

I have no problem with other races, religions or what ever, but do resent them coming here and wanting the schools e.t.c. to fit to them and not fit into the system themselves, I realise that some if ant most of the moaning is done by middle class _______ that have nothing better to do.

There is an editing button, I use it on occasions.

I fully agree. If I go and live in a Muslim country, I would expect to obey their laws, and respect the fact that their way of life is the accepted way of life in that country.

One of many million proves little. But your friend's friend niece's, uncle's, brother's, aunt needs to start reading what the Koran preaches. They want you dead. Their actions prove it.

In my opinion you go too far and those sort of words act to inflame opinion on both sides. I do not believe it is a truly Christian view even though I do not count myself a Christian.
