Put your motherboard disk into your CD/DVD rom and it should run automatically, if it does not, open My computer and right click your CD/DVD rom, then click autoplay.

Install all the drivers it has.

I did it! Well, not really... i restarted for the zillionth time, and because you kept saying it should be there, on my computer, i looked again, through every bit in that Everest thing, and i found something, GPU or something, with a link to a site where i could download the drivers.. I dont remotely get it. It wasnt under motherboard or display, but it is now. .. weird.. maybe it was just misplaced?

I downloaded something else before, maybe that did it? Some windows install thing I went to the ATI site and there it said i needed that first before downloading ati, so i did that ..it didnt seem to install, but perhaps it did. oh well, I dont care, its back to normal and you all look sooooo very bright and clear now! :D

Thank you very much, :good: I dont know what happened, but at least all that Everest, searching and downloading mysterious things payed off!

Better run adaware now though...

Remains the question, what is that other thing; MSDMO.dll ? what does that do? Do i really need it?

I have found that going to http://www.driversguide.com/ and looking for the driver for your specific monitor is often the answer. Windows 2000 should have a way of installing it. In w98 it is done through Control Panel>System if I remember correctly.

edit:- Just checked the path is Start>Settings>ControlPanel>System>DeviceManager>Default monitor>Driver>Update

Second edit:-

For entry into driversguide, the Username.. "drivers" and the Password ..."all" should work.

The msdmo.dll is very much needed by Websites with streaming media. Also, without the msdmo.dll present, Windows Media Player will not play...anything.

Aha!!

It didnt play , indeed, but I tried only twice and it didnt sink into my brain yet that it was actually not working at all.

I am still a bit blurheaded from all the thinking and trying and searching to sort the display out. My partner said I was talking in my sleep.

I said: "Files.. drivers... download...BIG MATHS"

its windows 2000, it displays the default "compatible VGA adapter" driver if it cannot find a device driver on the Windows 2000 PRO disk.

this is 3 step process.

1. the easyiest, but quite important for support. make sure all windows updates are done becouse it DOES make a huge difference on windows 2000's performance and capability.

2. download Driver-genius from http://www.driver-soft.com/ (mind you im not a big fan of Closed license programs but i know this works)

3. look for your graphics adapter, and download/install the driver the program is quite self explanitory from what i remember.

pm me if you can figure out how to use the program, and ill do a walk through with you on there.
