andsome
I still have my old Epson Stylus photo 830U. We used to have a local charity that would take old stuff and a man who they knew would repair it free of charge, either for them to use or to sell. They have closed down. To avoid landfill fill pollution does anyone know of such a charity in the Midlands?
catgate
You can avoid landfill pollution in two ways. Either take it and drop in in the Kennet and Avon canal, any Wednesday after 10.20 am (GMT), or else pour a gallon of cheap petrol over it and throw a lighted match at it (please use safety matches). AlanHo
Our local tip has an area devoted to unwanted electrical and electronic stuff.
andsome
It looks like it may well end up at the local tip. It's a pity that that charity closed down, some use could have been made of it.
-pops-
Don't misunderstand me, andsome. The people at my tip refurbish and recycle the things they collect and give to charity or send abroad.
artist
We have an on-the-spot boot sale at our tip. We put our greenhouse there......good buy for someone for a few pounds.

rong
I think our tip used to for charity, but they can't now especially with electrical stuff, something to do with the law
andsome
I think our tip used to for charity, but they can't now especially with electrical stuff, something to do with the lawMost charity shops will not sell electrical goods in case of dangerous problems. What I am really after is for someone to offer to repair it free of charge for a charity to use, or sell as guaranteed to have been inspected for safety. One shop in Cannock used to do this, but they are no longer there.
rong
They probably cost more to check than to buy new.
catgate
The best thing you can do with it is take it into PC World and go to the service desk with it. Put it down on the counter and tell the girl that you think it needs attention. At this point 'er indoors should rush up to you from out of the crowd and tell you something is happening with the car. Where upon you just say to the assistant, "Hold on to this a minute, love, I'll be right back" or words to that effect, and off you both go into the sunset.Problem solved. gordythegouge
Ansome ole chum! ...the best way to avoid pollution is to use something until it definitely has no further value or use......if the printer works... keep using it.....or put an advert up in the local Post Office offering it free to a good home..(not that you'll have to inspect the home or anything) or offer it to the local Primary School or Blytheswood or whatever. There's always someone who'll come up to you a week after you've got rid of it to say..."If only I'd Known!"Good Luck :D
AlanHo
Some neighbours bought a new microwave - nothing wrong with the old one except it now did not match the restyled kitchenThey put the unwanted one on the front lawn with a notice reading "Unwanted Microwave in perfect condition. Free to a good home. Please take it."It was still there after a week. They changed the sign to "Panasonic microwave. Excellent condition. Will accept £10"Later that day it mysteriously vanished - someone stole it.There might be a moral to this story......
expertec
Like the guy who was offered free services from Telewest for a period, and asked "can't you do it any cheaper?"He was then offered the same services for £5 a month, and gladly accepted.
