AlanHo Posted November 17, 2006 Report Share Posted November 17, 2006 Sometimes when I make a posting to a thread immediately after a previous posting by me (that is, no-one else has made an intervening posting) - the text is added to the previous post without any indication it will behave in this way. Not only that - although in effect it has edited the previous post, it does not show as such.At other times I can make two successive postings quite separately.How can you control this behaviour...? You the member can't control it [it applies to everyone inc. mods, admins]....there is an admin option though to control it. Merge member's concurrent postsWhen a member posts twice within n minutes, once after the other in a topic they will be merged into one post. Enter the number of minutes to capture concurrent posts. Sometimes members post at the same time and one wishes to answer a point which hadn't been made at the original posting.That sounds complicated. When you try to edit the post, only the first post's text shows up, the second part is not accessible. Meaning you cannot edit such a post without losing some data. The occasion has arisen if for the sake of argument I have closed down for some reason and then started up a little later. On those occasions all posts are separate.
