The ignition unit has just failed on our 6 year old gas hob. The local repairers quoted £58.75 for a replacement unit plus £75 to fit it on site.

I googled and found This Supplier who supplied one on next day delivery at a cost of £44.99 inc postage.

It is still expensive - but took me just 15 minutes to fix.

If you need any domestic equipment or electrical spares - it is a site well worth visiting.

Interesting; because the ignition unit failed on our Moffat gas hob before Christmas. It was considerably older than yours, Alan, I estimate over 20 years old! A local man said it would be very expensive to replace and I had given up on it. I tried your site and not surprisingly it did not recognise the part. It has a facility to try to source the part but even then I would have to attempt the fitting and with an old hob I tend to think I would cause more problems. I would replace the hob (they are not terribly expensive) but it is considerably larger than standard hob fittings available nowadays so this would then involve a new worktop. To make that look OK a new worktop would be needed for the rest of the kitchen also.

I think I will put up with what we've got and soldier on without automatic ignition. :D

The programming dial on our washing machine was just revolving on the the spindle of our washing machine last November. The little metal clip with the flat on it that grips the spindle has snapped. I did a search on the net for Domestic Machine parts and found a supplier down in London. It was going to be a case of having to buy the whole of the dial, £12.85 plus postage and packaging for the sake of getting a clip. After a few moments of thought I found a supplier that charged nothing, zero, zilch. All I did was nip around the corner, about 250 yards to our local council disposal point and pulled a dial off an old washing machine, took the clip off brought it home and put it onto our dial and presto, job done. :D
