joysness Posted January 19, 2007 Report Share Posted January 19, 2007 Here in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. we had the gail force winds about two weeks ago.Since then it's been freezing cold with snow and sleet then freezing rain which causes black ice and makes driving very dangerous. Hundreds of accicents, several with fatalities.Bring on summer indeed.Hello joysnessAccording to our forecasts, we are destined for much colder weather and snow. Brrrrr... I hate the winter, dark nights, cold and icy weather and high winds. I should have been born into a different climate! B)Hi Irene,I too hate the winters. I actually was born in Canada and came to the U.S. almost 30 years ago to get away from the 10 months of winter. Snowbanks 10 feet high, temps below zero and wind many days. So cold you could not go out with any part of your skin uncovered or you would have frostbite in just a few minutes.Moved to California and for the first time in 26 years my skin was actually flesh coloured rather than blue (which it had been in Canada :P ).When I moved up to Oregon it was like I was back in Canada except here it is usually 10 months of rain and once about every 3 - 4 years we get a light sprinkling of snow that is gone the next day. The weather has been getting worse every year.Wish I could afford to live in California again although the news just said it snowed in Malibu California a day or so ago. First time ever.
