Coreper Posted January 29, 2007 Report Share Posted January 29, 2007 do you have audio drivers installed?you can see this by doing: Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager, then check if there are objects with a ? in front of them [these arent [or not properly] installed. Were you driving the house mad with noise. Maybe if you promise to keep the volume down, he would re-enable it. I wish I could have disabled my sons Hi fi when he was younger and lived at home. Click the Start button, run, type services.msc and make sure Windows Audio is Started. If this is not the case check the device manager for driver problems, then the Sounds and Audio devices in the control panel along with any other audio applets in there. There is a mute setting in there also and other things that must be set for the sound to work. Just some other things to try, hope it helps. Also, in the Device Manger, try Properties on the device with the yellow question/exclamation mark, and find out what the exact error is.You can also try to download System Information for Windows, run it, and see if it gives you more information than the Device Manager.
