nellie2
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/6333673.stmAm I being a bit naive here or is this idea rather stupid? There are plenty of programs out there that will cloak your IP, it is easy enough to set up a new email addy and chatroom name. Heck, if you have a few quid you can rent an infected zombie machine to download your naughty pics to... (no I'm not kidding). I really cannot see what good this will do. :(
-pops-
I don't see how this can be made to operate either. It seems typical of governments all over the world - they seem to have the view that they are in total control of everything that their population thinks and does and seem to conveniently forget that the Internet (as well as lots of other things) are international and are completely uncontrollable. How are people going to be forced to register? Is this the precursor to everyone having to register their real name and all their Internet aliases on some government computer somewhere? It appears we are accelerating towards a police state. They might well pick up the stick and run with it.
artist
I agree Nell - anyone could reregister with different id details..........Clearly , they are under the impression that PC users can be controlled. The whole issue of child porn on the net is going to be nigh on impossible to control. More's the pity!

catgate
The whole issue of child porn on the net is going to be nigh on impossible to control. More's the pity!It is only a matter of time before it is made legal. This will cut down enormously on police work, magistrates work, and it will also reduce the numbers held in prison. This latter must be a big step forwards because it will free up more space for the council tax refusniks and those found speeding with the new GPS eye in the sky.
