A month ago, my oldest daughter had an accident when cycling to school. She has been in hospital for a week with a hip-fracture.

After that she was recovering at home with lots of visits of a kinesist. It was quite a painfull and frustrating time for her.

Today, she went to school again! Walking is still painfull, but she was very glad.

The specialists at the hospital are quite certain that she will walk normally within half a year. Within the year, she should be able to take up athletics again (her hobby for over 6 years now).

Thanks all!

It was a difficult time indeed, Hanne was very frustrated not being able to do the things she liked. Her 'bad' moods and revolting against her immobility, thought it was understandable, weren't always that easy. It gave quite some stress in my family.

Luckily, she is very motivated to get well. I never saw here working that hard to achieve something. Today she was very, very happy she was able to go back to school.

Thanks Dough for your advice. I think you are very right. She is so focused to get well as soon as possible, that she exceeds her limits sometimes. On the other hand its difficult for my wife and me to temper her enthousiasm...

If things like this happens in your own family, you really realize how important health is. Its a double feeling. We are very glad that the accident won't cause permanent trouble for her. On the other hand, we often asked ourself why that should have happened to her...

Well, we will take things one at a time, the good and the bad and try to make the best out of it.

After all, we are lucky that she has the chance to recover fully...

I always thought my English was ok, but it was difficult to write my feelings/emotions in a non native language, I hope the above makes some sense

I didn't log on yesterday afternoon so have only just seen your post. However I am so pleased that your daughter is back at school and all now looks well.

Best wishes to her and of course to you.

Thos.

Ditto from me. :D
