Not sure, I get mine free being slightly over 60 years old. :D

Same here andsome since May. I think the current rate for a prescription is around about £6.50. I stand to be corrected of course.

Once we go through our Health Savings Account (we pay $3,000 tax free into that account) our out of pocket expenses are done, except for the $2,000 or so annual premium. Right now we have our 2 children, my wife and me on the plan.

This will, of course, change once I retire, but we will be able to switch back to my wife's plan at that time.

If we want to lower medical costs we need to first call for limits on ridiculous jury awards on medical lawsuits (at least in the US).

American citizens should also be given the opportunity to buy into the same health insurance plans as our politicians enjoy (at very low costs).

I have a card, with my picture on it. I go into the Doctor's office, swipe my card, and the Doctor takes a look. I never see a bill, unless I have to buy medication, which (if I had any) would be covered by insurance.

I'm not sure exactly how the American or UK system works, but I like Canada's just fine. I am sure it is very similar, but through a private company in the US, rather than the government.

In the UK we pay for our National Health and Pensions weekly, or monthly if you are on a salary. We call it PAYE over here which stand for Pay As You Earn. This is deducted along with the Income Tax. We can walk into any Doctors surgery or Hospital in the UK and give them out National Insurance number and be seen. The only other thing we have to pay for are our prescriptions.

Yes, I forgot to add. The funding for our health system comes from our Taxes, which in Ontario is 15%. (7% PST, 8% GST).
