Chris
To cut a long story short. Some profile information has been removed.RAM, O/S, G/Card/ Monitor Size, etc.We felt it wasn't really needed and so we got rid. That's it really. :D p.s. we can put it back if need be, but there's no rush. trackrat
I found that information useful, as it saved asking some questions about the persons computer when trying to help them out
Chris
The information is only helpful if it is entered and is correct.Like I said we can put it back if need be.
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Same comment as trackrat; often a poster asks for help, but doesn't specify the Windows version. A quick lookup of the profile most often gives that information. All other information are of no interest.
-pops-
This profile information would be useful if it was filled in correctly which, in my experience, was rarely. Many new members seemed to tick the boxes at random such that you had systems running XP Pro with a 1GB hard drive and 3GB RAM. These people also often didn't know if they had a CRT screen or not.Even the O/S information can be wrong and one person I replied to some time age became irritated when I gave replies based on the info in their profile (WXP) when what they were using was a Linux version. Irene
As a non-expert, my view would be that the info would be useful to advisers, as expessed above. However, it would only have value if member's updated it to reflect changes made to existing or maybe new/replacement equipment.
Chris
hmmm so what information would you want then?O/S?

Chris
Operating System is back although you'll have to fill it in again.
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
p.s. we can put it back if need be, but there's no rush.I thought "put it back" would mean "put the information back". Instead you put back an empty field - not very useful in my opinion. Only new users will probably fill in the information.
Irene
I've put my OS back into my profile. I suppose we'll see now how many others will do similar.P.S. I like to see in which part of the world people live. They don't always complete the field which appears in the thread's, but it was often in that part of the profile which is now missing. :(

AlanHo
I would have thought it possible that with his programming genius, Chris could ensure that you could only post to the Forum if your profile included certain information.I subscribe to the view that your OS and place of residence are of material interest.I have updated my profile accordingly.... If you don't select anything you won't get very far. That sounds good to my non-expert brain. Could you perhaps do a poll on what members, if not subscribers would like to see?
