The fat man has stopped singing

Good as Pavarotti may have been, without Giacomo Puccini (click here) and a series of football matches held in Italy he would have been just another jobbing singer known only to opera buffs.

Puccini was always one for a good tune, people ought to have a look (or rather listen) to more of his works - such as more of Turandot (from whence comes Nessun Dorma). The aria of Turandot herself is particularly tear wrenching. The performance by Dame Eva Turner is some of the best music I have ever had the pleasure to hear. Click here. Silly pantomime? Yes, but isn't most opera?

Well pops, you could say that about any performer; they are only as good as the material they use but what makes the difference is their individual interpretation of it :flowers:

Yes, indeed - which is part of the reason I referred to Eva Turner. An awful lot of people would respond with "who?" when presented with her name.
