colrich Posted September 6, 2007 Report Share Posted September 6, 2007 Why do some of my picture folder thumbails show a selection of the photos in the folder poking out- but others just show a single picture, unrelated to the folder content? Watchful Posted September 7, 2007 Report Share Posted September 7, 2007 Go to Start - Control Panel - Folder Options - View tab and re-set all folders to show how you want them.Or, go to My Pictures, highlight a folder, choose view and customize it from there. You will need to enable hidden files and folders to see this file.Delete the Iconcache.db in the following location:C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Iconcache.dbYou may also want to delete the thumbs.db file in the folders you are having problems with. Watchful Posted September 7, 2007 Report Share Posted September 7, 2007 Try this: My Pictures - Open a folder that shows thumbnail views - Tools, at the top of page - Folder Options - View tab - Apply to all folders.Next time you open up, all folders should display in this way.You can get any folder to show thumbnails by highlighting the folder and going to View at the top then choosing thumbnails from the list. Scarecrow Man & Boris- thanks for help but it takes a lot more confidence than I posses to delete contents of hidden files without being sure of the conseqences. For anyone else reading this- I've now found one fix- it's to transfer all the folder contents to a new folder- but a better way would be to get to the bottom of the correct settings. Watchful Posted September 7, 2007 Report Share Posted September 7, 2007 If you are in fact using XP, like me, then it's strange it doesn't work for you Mine are all set that way.Have you tried doing it through Start/Appearance and Themes/Folder Options?Otherwise you may have to change each individual folder. They show four on the folder but if there's only one or two then they only show those. There is also an option under Tools/Folder Options/View, to scroll down and put a tick in the box that says; Remember all folder settings in Advanced settings. The folder icon will display pictures only for the number of files in the folder in XP- it will ignore sub folders- so if your folder has 200 sub folders and one "loose" file, one picture will appear on the main folder- my problem is dealing with Vista not XP.
