Modern coffins

I have just come across details of an "improved" coffin design, said to give greater security and easier manufacture.

The ends used to be fastened to the sides using the common place mortice and tenon joint. This was rather labour intensive and not too secure.

A joiner working in Lancashire, and who is an economic migrant from Latvia, has developed this new easy fit type of joint which he is calling the Riga Mortice joint.

Coffins falling apart? Do you mean after the funeral (doesn't matter) or before it (deadly serious!)? :0

You could also try using those thick elasticated straps with metal hooks on the end that we used to use to strap things to the panniers of motor cycles way back. Or try luggage straps. You can even get them with a security lock and the deceased persons name on so they can inform you if it goes to the wrong "place".

Andsome, won't a cardboard coffin go soggy and bend if it rains?

:D :D :D

I don't approve of wasting millions of acres for burial grounds. I am sure that a cardboard coffin will stay sound enough while it is carried outside to the hearse, and from there into the crematorium. Then it will be bunt together with my remains. :D

We who have lived a blameless life (and I think that is only Artist and I) have no qualms.

Well I haven't, I had them out when I had my appendix done when I was seven.

Blameless? Depends who you're talking to. :D

I was, of course, ignoring the caravaning road obstruction side of your life.
