Thought for today - 7 January

You have just reminded me of a very painful experience from my rugby days.

I had acquired a very nasty knock on my knee, and by the time I got home it was starting to stiffen up. So I went into my bedroom, undressed ready to change to go out for the evening, and sat on the edge of my bed with a bottle of Sloan's Liniment.

I took off the top and poured a goodly libation into my hand so that I could apply it to my knee. A more than necessary portion of this trickled between my fingers and deposited itself on my wedding tackle.!!!!!!!

My eyes still water. It was just like being stung by an angry bunch of wasps. Copious washing only reduced it slightly and it took hours before it felt comfortable.

I once used hairspray instead of underarm deodorant.

I'll bet that made your underarm hair stand on end!!

No Irene.....my underarms are bald :D

In that case, I hope you hadn't just shaved!! :0

Having said that. I'm not sure if hairspray would contain irritants.

I used to use a spray underarm deodorant many years ago, then suddenly my skin began to react horribly to it. Goodness knows what changed, it or me, but it was hideously painful and caused serious irritation on the area where I had sprayed. No doubt the chemically trained members of WF would have an explanation. :D

Needless to say, I have used an alternative ever since.

I only use the roll-on type now.

I have sensitive skin and even hair-spray (which I have to use) makes my scalp itchy

The problem with under arm products is the anti perspirant. It is usually this that causes the irritation. The answer is to use only a plain deodorant product that does not contain an anti perspirant. We have done so for several years now, with no more problems. Bad smell is caused by bacteria over a period of time. Washing at least once per day and using a plain deodorant should be sufficient. Fresh perspiration does not smell offensive, and only perspiration from the day before will cause offence. :D

The simple solution, therefore, is do not sweat the day before. That way you could save ££££s, and be the most popular person on the street.

I didn't realise you were such a mine of information andsome! :D

We use BIONSEN, which contains Japanese Spa minerals. It is just a deodorant, and contains no aluminium or alcohol, which are the main causes of irritation. It is usually stocked by Sainsbury and Tesco. :D
