I don't know what Last orders is about, but will check in Radio Times. Much as I like dogs, I will pass on Crufts. It's trimming them up with silly pop pom hair cuts that annoys me, and breeding dogs so that they are positively unhealthy with arthritic joints, ultra flat faces, docked tails etc etc is unnecessary and cruel. The five golden rules were all pretty obvious except for the one about popping down to the computer store and investing £50 in an Anti Spam program, he must be joking. I used to play tennis at Wibsey park. My wrestling farting was done less than 100yds away from Wibsey Working Men's Club. I played rugby with Wibsey R.U.F.C. We lived about two and a half miles away from it. Some of the black and white bits of the film were familiar. I can remember the general dismay and apprehension when those "coloured" people came into Bradford. What I did not notice in the programme was any mention that they were the follow on from the influx of Latvians, Lithuanians, Ukranians etc who had come working in the mills after the war and had then gradually drifted over the Atlantic (mainly to Canada). These were followed by hundreds of Italian girls, most of whom worked for Salts of Saltaire.One thing that looks to have changed dramatically in Wibsey, however, is the apparent shortage of razor blades and soap. No one would have gone about looking like some of the specimens on view this evening, even going "dahn ter t' mill, ter ther wark". I suspect some of that must have been staged for dramatic effect. There was no way that that committee was ever going to save the club financially, they were living in the past. The same thing is heard around here with many not knowing who to vote for.Unfortunately, the community spirit, that no longer exists except among the older end, has disappeared in all small places with the demise of local shops, meeting places etc. and a whole different way of life now.In my village there is still a community feel and we all look out for each other but the two 'meeting places' for most, the paper shop and the P.0., are both on the breadline. Postcode migration ........for health/education and tax implications I think that we are heading for a breakdown of society and civilisation of a similar degree to the end of the roman empire.
