Panarchy Posted April 21, 2008 Report Share Posted April 21, 2008 Hello!There is a white flashing dot in the upper left corner of my screen (whilst the rest of the screen is black)It appears after going through the general bootup stuff (I have an ASUS P5K-E WiFi Motherboard):(I am dual booting Vista & XP. I've wasted enough of my time with totally pointless responses.I'll just make one comment, though. I've built hundreds of computers. I've never flashed or updated the BIOS in any of them as it should be totally unnecessary to do so. Any computer that requires a BIOS flash is only fit for the bin. I consider there is something awry if you need to update a motherboard (any part of it) before it will match and work with the other components of a machine. I clearly remember him mentioning then about wanting to flash the BIOS in the future and he was given a number of warnings about the risks he would run for no real benefit. This same advice was also given on at least two other forums he was posting on.So the predicted situation has now arisen - should we be surprised. andsome refers to him as panicky - seems somehow appropriare at this time.
