catgate Posted May 2, 2008 Report Share Posted May 2, 2008 I have just seen the following quotation in one of yesterdays "pieces".It sums up beautifully one of my previously unrecognised "feelings" or images of polling days.As usual, we were ostensibly the only people voting in our vicinity, but maybe that's because everybody else is scared of the austere old women that they always seem to have manning the ships in those places. In my younger days they would always be wearing black (as per Victorian weeds) but they are brighter now, having promoted themselves to dull brown and drab.I went to a funeral a few weeks ago and, there they were as if by magic.
