stephmayes Posted May 4, 2008 Report Share Posted May 4, 2008 My laptop has just started behaving really weird. It boots up and remains on and working until it is moved. Then it shuts down as if there is no power. Even when its attached to the mains.I dont believe it to be a battery problem. Its not overheating problem as when it boots and I then move it gently to one side it shuts down. mark2 Posted May 4, 2008 Report Share Posted May 4, 2008 A friend's aged laptop recently began shutting down when moved, the fault proved to be down to the battery moving slightly in it's compartment as the laptop moved, a small wedge of cardboard has cured the movement and they haven't suffered with a shutdown in the 14 days since. Dencandy Posted May 7, 2008 Report Share Posted May 7, 2008 How old is your hard disk? If it's more than 5 years and has had heavy usage you should maybe be thinking about replacing it.
