...and what about the elephants that might have stampeded if they had been coming in the opposite direction and the captain of the QE2 might have might have steered through Mrs Jones' garden if he had beentaking the boat across the pedestrian crossing.

Personally I rate him as a grade A cretin that should be fined for not wearing a seatbelt and the driver needs his head examining too, probably needs his driving license reprocessed with a shredder..

I feel the same.

You may well be right, but think of all the opportunities that could be lost for the self righteous bumbledoms to come out with their incessant strings of "but it could have been much worse".

There always has to be a Chief Fire Officer or a Police Inspector telling us the blindingly obvious. "How lucky it was that the bus only had two people on it, or else more people would have been injured" or "How fortunate it was the fire did not spread any further, or else more damage would have been done"

I suppose it is for such percipience that these people get promotion.
