Music Can Improve the Taste of Wine

A BBC article claims that playing music to a bottle of wine can significantly change its taste.

Being naturally gullible - I decided to give it a try. I placed my Kenwood headphones around a bottle of Chilean cabernet sauvignon reserve and played it Gustav Mahler's Symphony No 4 in G Major at a reasonable volume. It may have been my imagination - but the wine seemed to be rippling in little waves as the music surged through it - clearly having an effect.

I opened the wine for dinner in great anticipation only to find I now have a bottle of red wine vinegar - confirming a long held belief about Mahler's music. I am thinking of trying the experiment with another bottle - but this time I will play it a track from ABBA, Cliff Richard or Barry Manilow to see if the wine will react positively to real music.

Turn your sound up

I didn't hear any sound, but I can vouch for the fact that "imbibed" wine can certainly change the sound of music!

That explains Forte fied wines and why they should not be drunk in an Allegro.

One of the worst cars ever made. Who would want to drink wine in one?

I think it was a good car made badly.

That could describe a good number of BMC's cars.

Certainly MOST of them. The Maxi was dreadful. I had one that I could have sworn had square brakes. It used to shudder dreadfully at speed when the brakes were applied. The gear change was like waving a wand about. :D
