A lesson in wasting public funds

They had the nerve to compare the costs there with the costs of holding the session in a four star hotel in Stoke. Why on earth is it necessary to hold it in such a venue in any case? The whole business is obscene. There is a row going on in Stoke at present over the councils decision to close some well liked schools.

What was it Corporal Jones used to say? "They don't like it up 'em."

the head teacher stating it is due to the downturn in the economic climate and undue media attention.

So prior to this it would have been acceptable......?

Even the cancellation was cack handed, at this point their chances of getting a refund is nil, so they've blown all the money on a training seminar they've not received and as I understand the training is mandatory so they're going to have to do it somewhere else at another time for which they will be charged.

So the head made an ill advised selection in the current climate, then compounded it with a knee jerk reaction because the bad press was giving him the Willies.

I'd still love to see the terms of the tender that was put out, it's easy for hotels to say "Oh we could have done it cheaper" after the event, when they've lost the tender, or never having seen it don't know what they're talking about. I'd like to know what they came up with before hand and what the schools justification was for the decision.

Training should NOT need to be carried out in a hotel at all. What on earth is wrong with doing it in the school? Stoke it closing schools due to funding difficulties. The head teachers head should roll over this fiasco.
