I've found your problem.

C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\Ad-Aware.exe

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > find the program in the list and go through the deletion options.

Lavasoft is quite well known and has been for the last couple of years for their adware products and being a little too unfriendly to delete, and they claim to help the threats but they aren't.

There are two : One malicious, one which actually does work, but that's a dead as dinosaurs.

If this way doesn't work for you, you should try download Spybot S&D and also after you've downloaded it download all the updates.

EDIT:- Also, if you're on Vista and you have had a keylogger installed they are probably hacking you via your web browser. Microsoft have new beta updates for I.E 8 if you're interested, and Spybot S&D also have a scan for your web browsers, they find security vulnerabilities in them and then remove or secure the vulnerabilities.

Re. the above post - Lavasoft's Ad-Aware is NOT a rogue programme (as could be implied from the poster's response).

Its effectiveness is one of personal opinion, ........... and perhaps it is not quite as good as it was at one time, but it is in no way causing a key logger problem. as Hb_Kai's original post could be interpreted as meaning.

If you wish to have effective protection then in addition to your firewall and anti-virus you can run any of these products (all of which have free versions and are used by many members of W/F with complete confidence).

SpyBot S&D,

Spyware Blaster,

Malware Bytes Anti-Malware,

a-squared Free (Trojan Scanner),

Spyware Terminator,

SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition,

WinPatrol

What Spybot S&D tells me about Ad-Aware is that there might be conflict having the two programs installed together - much the same as two antivirus scanners.

Even so, I have Spybot AND Ad-Aware installed together on my three machines and on the ones I have built for my son's business. There is no problem with them.

grezer, welcome to the Windows Forum.

We do no longer have trained malware specialists at this forum that can help you reading your HJT log, and removing malware. I have therefore removed your log, so you won't get any more confusing advice.

There are several groups on the Internet who can help you with your problem, one of them being Castlecops. Wait times can be long there, as there are many more requests for help than active specialists.

Other forum members here may post some other groups where you can get help with a HJT log. Please post only in one group.

here is another forum

EDIT. I also agree with the others. I don't think that Ad Aware is anywhere near as good as it used to be, but it is certainly not malicious. Also I have NEVER had any problems in uninstalling it.

I've been using Spybot S&D alongside Lavasoft's AdAware for a few years now and have never encountered any conflicts. One thing about these 2 products is that when they're running effectively you don't get any problems to clear up, so when you run a scan you're likely to find zero results. This might create the impression that they're no good because they never find anything (except for cookies). But because they're effectively blocking most problems there's nothing to find afterwards.

I do agree, though, that the providers are making them more bloated with unnecessary or duplicate extras. But both are still excellent products nonetheless in my view. :good:
