Does anyone use this.

I have been having a lot of problems with AdAware - won't scan - won't update. I have got SpywareBlaster but am not sure that is enough protection.

I read somewhere that Avast is good.

Any opinions on this?

Adaware does not as far as I know have an AV program, only an Anti Malware program. Avast is of course an AV program. I have never used it, but many recommend it. :D . For a good Anti Malware program try this one.Get the free one, it is excellent

Been using it for years highly recommend it, the latest version comes with anti malware and rootkit coverage as well. andsome is however correct in that its core is an antivirus program and is unlikely to live harmoniously with whatever package you have installed at the moment.

I need something to replace AdAware..........

I've got AVG and spywareblaster and a Sygate firewall and the M/S firewall - do I really need anything else?

I just downloaded and ran Mbam, which was referred to in a thread on CT.

Depends how paranoid you are, both avast and AVG have added malware coverage in their latest versions, so in my opinion you're covered, but there are those that don't agree and like to have a dedicated malware scanner as a backup, you could try

Superantispyware

SpywareTerminator

The first two are just backup scanners with the live protection and updates being disabled in the freebie. Spywareterminator is much more comprehensive and is capable of locking your system against intrusion by nasties very securely, on the downside it does need to learn a ruleset of what to allow and can be a bit obtrusive with popups checking on whether to permit something to run or not as its training.

This is not quite correct - both free versions of Malwarebytes Anti-malware and Superantispyware do have the ability to update enabled ...... but you need to do the updates manually rather than it being done automatically for you.

Malware Bytes as suggested by Irene is excellent. I have been using it for some time now.. :D

I use Avast artist and can't fault it. As already recommended use Mbam instead of Adaware.
