Use your package manager: urpmi, apt-get, yast, yum, etc. Ask reasonable questions after checking google, first. "CAN U HLP ME PLZ???!!1" isn't reasonable. Don't ask to ask a question.'

03[00:07] * Set by twkm on Sun Feb 01 03:41:47

[00:09] <infernal_jesus> Yup, yup.

01[00:09] <Yung_C> indeed

01[00:10] <Yung_C> so does the idea of windows power shell make you wanna give up and get xp?

01[00:10] <Yung_C> c`mon admit it

01[00:10] <Yung_C> power shell!

01[00:10] <Yung_C> its the force luke

01[00:12] <Yung_C> bsd is snoozin, linux is losin, now that we got power shell all yall we wish you well

01[00:12] <Yung_C> :D

[00:12] <infernal_jesus> Lol.

01[00:12] <Yung_C> no but do you guys, have anything like powershell?

01[00:13] <Yung_C> awk? grep?

[00:13] <infernal_jesus> Is that a serious question?

01[00:13] <Yung_C> yeah

[00:13] <infernal_jesus> We have a shell.

01[00:13] <Yung_C> I know

01[00:13] <Yung_C> a unix shell.

[00:13] <infernal_jesus> We have bash, zsh, tcsh, sh, ksh... :P

01[00:13] <Yung_C> and .out

[00:13] <infernal_jesus> What?

02[00:13] * Sorya ([email protected]) Quit (Read error: Operation timed out)

[00:13] <infernal_jesus> [23:11:05] < infernal_jesus> We have bash, zsh, tcsh, sh, ksh... :P

01[00:13] <Yung_C> indeed

01[00:14] <Yung_C> unix sometimes uses .out instead of .exe

01[00:14] <Yung_C> I thought anyway

[00:14] <infernal_jesus> No. We don't use extensions.

[00:15] <infernal_jesus> Only windows determines a file type by extension, which is idiotic.

[00:15] <infernal_jesus> The extensions on unix and linux are there for the user.

[00:15] <infernal_jesus> So the user can know what it is without running 'file'.

01[00:15] <Yung_C> yeah but how do you run a file with out a executable?

01[00:15] <Yung_C> ??

[00:16] <infernal_jesus> ...

[00:16] <infernal_jesus> By typing in it's name. :)

01[00:16] <Yung_C> oh yeah

01[00:16] <Yung_C> like .\wow

01[00:17] <Yung_C> ever click on anything?

[00:18] <infernal_jesus> Yes. Of course.

01[00:18] <Yung_C> well I will go back to my power shell, and remote network, and you have fun with those kernals, slick

mIRC is the Windows Client. X-Chat is the Linux client.

They are both basically web-chat software. You use them to first connect to servers, and then the channels (rooms if you like), and people talk in them.

Alternatively,

Think of a server as a house full of people in every room (obviously, the amount of rooms depends on the house). The people are the people on the channel. The channel is a room in a house. The server is the house. The client is yourself.

You walk/connect to a house/server, then join/enter a room/channel and have a chat with people. :P

And another thing to keep you "updated" if you like on the latest slang:

Web definitions for PWNED!

Pwn is a leetspeak slang term, derived from the word "own", that implies domination or humiliation of a rival, used primarily in the Internet ...

Sounds like a load of rubbish to me.

I think I want to create my own abbreviation and see how long it takes to hit the cyberworld.

I think it will be... TYCON. It means Turn Your Computer Off Now.

If you see this in about 10 - 15 years time, you know it was me that made it. ;)

Some like it, some don't. mIRC also comes with scripting capabilities so that's another use for it.

Penguins with red hats. I know how your hats get red. You roam the country side at night, and eat windows and slowaris programmers and dip your caps in our blood. I am on to you.

Only the fenestrated give rise to occulation, despite all their reticular gravitas and consequential brevity. Thoroughgoing consequential articulation does nothing for the insuperable permanence of a tripartite allegory nor of equilateral eminences.

Hear hear. It's also a load of crappy nonsense.

Just because you've never seen a penguin with a red hat roaming the countryside dipping their hats in the blood of windows and slowaris programmers doesn't mean there is no truth in the rummer. It answers the question as to why the penguins have red hats
