catgate
I think it is wonderful. It should be extended to money too. So that you would ask "How much is that then?" and the sales(man) (sorry... "person") is only allowed to say "That will be money,to you Sir." You can then just give IT money...say 20pHooray......Up with the indefinite article!.......Yes right up.

How long will it be before we see the names of places change. Like Manchester, it would have to known as Personchester and I could go on all night with that one. The next thing to come out of Brussels will probably be the renaming of Racially Sounding Place names. An example of this would be the changing of the name Blackburn, it would have to be called Colourburn. If the word Colour still sounds offensive then change it to Translucentburn. The mind boggles. :D

catgate
I think the whole thing is totally out of control. The reason we have language is so as to be able to communicate ideas to each other, and, since there are lots of different things, we need lots of words, that differentiate between different sorts of "it". If we go on as we are doing in another fifty years language will consist of "Ugh" and "Init" interspersed with those four letter words. The major contributors, to this peculiar movement to remove differentiation, seem to be those who are, for some reason or other, ashamed of being what they are. Women who are ashamed of being women appear high on the list, men and women who wish they were the opposite are also to the fore , as are men and women who prefer their own sex for sex, whilst those of a different colour and/or of ethnic origin who think they are somehow supposed not to be recognised as such are always well represented. It also seems to be a mutual support thing with one group pandering to the other and supporting each other's "rights".The silly thing is that because differentiation is necessary those words that are "banned" will always be used privately and substitute word will be used in public. These word however will very quickly become just as commonly understood as the banned ones were, although now they will have taken on a more foolish and mocked aspect.Another weird aspect of this is the way a "coloured" man is put in charge of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, and a similar lady is the Director of The National Council for Civil Liberties. A Muslim MP is proposing a new religious discrimination law which would require public bodies to have a legal duty to promote equality between faiths (presumably there would be an equal number of bombings allowed per year) and this should be directed by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (and no doubt monitored by the Association of Black Police Officers). There was an interesting article I saw today on a web site:- http://stanislavplumbcheap4u.blogspot.com/.../way-it-is.html
deuces wild
Same crap happening on the other side of the pond. Our children will be living in a sterile neutered world where Big Brother (the govt) controls our thoughts and ideas.Orwell's 1984 a few decades late?http://www.online-literature.com/orwell/1984/2/

This is what I call trivial pursuit. To my mind such things are just not worth getting worked up about, life's too short.

In fact I consider that this is very important. The politically correct idiots are taking over.
Dencandy
Oh sorry. I misunderstood. My approach is: they can change the laws, but they can't change my thinking. So I try not to let such things bother me, which admittedly isn't always easy.
