Luckily the river is only 20 inches deep. That night I purchased one and found it to be a priceless tool on the job as I did quite a lot of driving to customer sites.We used it on our trip to the New England States last year. I used it just yesterday to find a lumber yard in the boonies I had never been to before.Heck, they even show nearby restaurants, attractions and gas stations.I find it to be a very useful device. Those lucky enough to have a separate car TV set (not combined in the GPS) will naturally also watch TV, while sending text messages on the second mobile phone. Well it's no problem to an experienced driver.An experienced driver can look at the road ahead, continually watch his speedometer, look out for children, little old ladies, dogs, and errant cyclist, on, or rapidly leaving, the pavements on both sides of the road, even amongst car parked outside schools at leaving time. Whilst he is doing this he is also looking out for, and reading, all the multitude of road signs which smother every road in the country like a dose of measles, in addition to keeping a sharp look out for speed cameras in the far distance and potholes in that part of the road immediately ahead of his wheel tracks. If anything should be banned it's anybody stupid enough to drive over a cliff or into a river because the magic box told them to. If your brain has less processing power than the average sat nav CPU then the safest option is to stick their driving license through a shredder and condemn them to a lifetime of the tortuous purgatory that is public transport.
