What are the benifits of having a computer for you...

The desktop case provides a nice place to place my coffee mug or diet cola while sitting at my desk.

Sorry for being sarcastic....and welcome to the forum. :flowers:

My computer allows me to:

1. Pay bills on line (no postage)

2. Communicate with family and friends, including broadcast messages to them, allowing them to view and respond to the emails at their convenience. This includes webcam (Skype) video conversations with my son in Iraq and daughter one hundred miles south of us.

3. Research various things on line (by by encyclopedia).

4. Make on line purchases after browsing for the best possible price (by by shopping malls).

5. Participate in internet forums, such as this one.

6. Use a VOIP service, resulting in several hundred dollars in land line phone and long distance fees.

I can keep on going but it is obvious how computers benefit us.

I'm UK born but now live in Asia. Apart from what others have posted above, I can read all the UK newspapers on-line if I want to, (and realise how fortunate I am to have left the UK some years ago - but that's just a by-product). I can also read many magazines like New Scientist, the Spectator, Time, etc on-line as they come out without having to get them posted to me.
