Could You Pass the Marshmallow Test?

Chewing a bath sponge - yuk!

My dog does a trick (seemingly self taught) of allowing a Bonio (dog biscuit) to rest on his nose and resisting the temptation to eat it until given the go-ahead. All the while he waits he salivates profusely and goes cross eyed looking at the biscuit.

I used to have a Cocker Spaniel that did that. I would balance the biscuit on her nose and she would just sit there. Then when I said 'eat' she would throw it into the air, a few inches, then eat it. I didn't teach her to do it. It still has me puzzled today how she learned to do it.

It's the secret doggie grapevine - using senses that are unknown to us mere humans (see another thread on this).

I could pass the test because I don't like like marshmallows, but the kids faces were priceless

I had a dog who loved oranges. When she wanted one she would walk round and round the coffee table (they were in a bowl on the table) then lean over and bop the orange with her nose. Of course, I used to tease her and say things like "What do you want, then? You'll have to show me". After having her do this several times I would slowly start to peel the orange. My goodness, by this time she was usually drooling all over the place. Yeah, I know - horrible! But she loved playing the game and always ate all the orange up. B)
