Irene
Pride is what we have. Vanity is what others have.Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain.Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves; vanity, to what we would have others think of us. ;) ~ Jane Austen

catgate
You would if you could see some of them.I spent a couple of hours this afternoon fitting a new set of internals into a shower mixer control unit for my farmer neighbour, and I'll bet he doen't use it. The old one was "locked" solid and he will have got used to it as it was.He has just come back from a month long mountaineering expedition in the Everest neck of the woods and goodness knows what his staff have broken whilst he has been away. I dread to think what will turn up next.
