AlanHo
If not already available - wouldn't it be nice if someone marketed a modular power supply for computer external peripherals with numerous low voltage AC and DC output sockets into which you could plug your printers, scanner, modem, speakers, external hard drives, router, etc. It would be nice if it had an inbuilt auto cut-off so that power to peripherals was switched off when the computer was closed down - like the smart sensor adapter I bought from MaplinsUnder my desk is a bank of power sockets into which my 9 peripherals are plugged - some have the transformer/rectifier built into the 3 pin plug - others have a power brick - but it all takes up a considerable amount of space and is almost impossible to keep tidy. The combined power supply would of course require various power connection cords with specific plugs for the various sockets used by peripheral manufacturers as optional extras. That's what I wish for Christmas. rong
I would just be happy with something that stopped the cables from coming to life every now and then and tangling themselves

Irene
THESE are more accessible. Then use something like THIS to keep the trails in order.
Boris
Then use something like THIS to keep the trails in order. Much cheaper option is to gather them up and thread them through an empty one of these - You also have the added advantage that ther original contents taste nice :)

AlanHo
You have slightly missed the point - I already have a couple of multi socket adapters and my wiring is constrained within some helical plastic tubes. Its the multiplicity of power units - especially the separate "bricks" that makes life more difficult. Hence my search for a single power source with low voltage sockets for various accessories. I presume that they adjust the power to a more appropriate level for the peripherals...Maybe this is a good one for Pat W to think about in retirement. AlanHo
Might be better that Chris has a go now that he is on strike with nothing to do - after all he used to be known as either Powerless, Powerful or Powercrazy (or something similar). catgate
I think you are just beginning to see the tip of the iceberg so often referred to as "The benefits of a paperless office".

fmw
I would vote for manufacturers building power supplies inside every single product. I would pay the extra freight for that personally. The wall warts are truly a hassle.
