It is the clash of the ships in Southern Ocean where Japs as whaling illegally. What video ? Which type of video format ? WMA,AVI,DIVX,XVID,.FLV ?Are you trying to watch a streaming video, something you have downloaded from the internet, or is it perhaps a DVD Disk that you have either rented or bought ?You will need to know which format you have to be able to download the correct codec for what ever it is you are trying to view. The tech guy must have had one heck of a time with you.

rong
Plays with me, it just opens in a new tab with FireFox, don't know which player as it doesn't ask me to chose.
andsome
It plays fine for me too. Why do you have so many players installed. I too have tried all those you listed, and found Real player and Quick Time to be pains in the ass. I have no problems with WMP. Best of luck. I too have tried all those you listed, and found Real player and Quick Time to be pains in the ass. I have no problems with WMP. Best of luck.I saw this video on TV news today. It appears the video was taken from the Japanese ship and with the angle you can't determine if it steered into the smaller ship or not. I didn't know that there was another group protesting the Japanese whaling. I believe the History channel has an annual show about the Sam Shepherd doing what it can to protect the whales. So yes, I can also view this video.
artist
I'm not sure what player it was either. I'm happy with WMP - never given me a problem.
Lamb Chop
I just tried the link again - click on watch and it says loading and then - nothing.............Mysterious. As to why I have these players - WMP came with the machine - others I downloaded to view videos where they needed those players. With all the problems I got left with and now the monitor playing up daily - it is just out of warranty as only a year old - but when he returned my computer and set it back up he plugged it into the computer around the wrong way. I am hoping now I have rectified it that it will settle down and work -It now shows the light and goes to sleep which it wouldn't plugged in backwards - but on checking yesterday found it is listed by the Device manager twice as I think this maybe because he didn't do the windows remove hardware - which I did when changing over the dead to new monitor and so this is why it is in twice and maybe why it boots sometimes now and not others. Who knows I will ring Phillips to see if disabling one will sort that out.
MANEMAN
I wasn't being nasty. You may have needed the correct codec to view this video, I was trying to establish what format so that we could help you.Humour is always thrown in. I dont do nasty. Only funny, to oil the wheels of the world where people without a sense of humour reside.Anyway, apologies if me and your tech guy have caused you too much distress. Dencandy
This is an Adobe Flash Player 10 video, but it might also play on other generic players. Can you access other sites using Adobe Flash, such as YouTube?First thing I'd do is check at the Adobe Flash site (ADOBE) that you have the most recent version (10) and that there's no other related problems. After you've installed the update the site will test it to see if there are any problems & if there are it will suggest possible causes.Another possibility is that Javascript is not installed as many embedded videos require it to make the link.I agree with what andsome writes about Quick Time & Real Player as they try to take over everything and are constantly trying to update, etc, etc. so if the first solution doesn't work you could try uninstalling them & see if that helps.Another possibility is one of your items of security, such as firewall, which may be blocking Adobe Flash. So if none of the above works try disabling everything except the Windows firewall then try to access tyhe video.

Dencandy
Do you have a third party advert filter such as Select View installed? Sometimes an ad filter can block the adverts which then will not allow the video download to proceed any further. If you have one, try disabling it.The next thing to do after that is to try accessing the site with another web browser. Do you have Firefox, Opera or Chrome? If not I suggest you download one of them and see if you can view the video with it.

Lamb Chop
See http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090727104407AAjEJHDthanks for that Pat - checked IE8and it is all set as indicated and still wont work. Also went to Firefox to see if my plug ins were wrong - but I have all of them except one for Windows - had one but now have a second one. Also have plug ins for Quick and shockwave and Adobe all I need.Still wont play for me I also downloaded a new Dell support Centre and that has been driving me insane - trying to get me to load a CD and it came already loaded - had to remove the one I had - to put on thisnew one - it is different and the old one wasn't working when I tried to use it. New one scanned and found only Roxio needing updating and I tried for that too but failed on download so will go back tomorrow. Also found out I have only 48 days left on warranty of free replacements and spare parts etc.I thought I was out of warranty. B) As for these video's on newpapers - still mysterious and getting more so :
Dencandy
Here's a link to a Flash problem solving site: HERE. One of the things they recommend is doing a complete uninstall of Adobe Flash and installing a completely fresh copy.I'm annoyed with myself because some months ago a had a similar problem with Flash videos refusing to play only on the BBC and I can't remember how I fixed it.Note that you have to use Adobe's own uninstaller to do the job properly. Also note the point at the end about 3rd party pop-up blockers that can sometimes also block Flash vodeos on some sites. Didnt work on video at all.Thought OK try BBC and their video immediately said no flash player on using Firefox and so it installed it on Firefox. It played their video. Went to link for japs whaling - now goes to loading but still wont play on both FF and IE8.Today I thought try the Australian as their video may be damaged on the link for over use etc but I could not find any video at all to test! Even their link Video is blank.so I do have all the necessary bits to play videos and thanks for the help - just that maybe this one newspaper has problems or I have with it or my computer has or or or ..........
