Trauma!

I have been through a terrible time (sob)

I haven't had any internet since last wednesday! It suddenly went off and I got a message on the help line saying it would be for 48 hours because of flooded lines.

It didn't come back on!!

As it was Easter I left it until yesterday. Rang up (India) on the mobile - it had to be a different phone number and in front of the computer. Some chappie was guiding me along - took forever - we were at a what seemed like a crucial bit and the damn money on my mobile ran out.

So - rang this morning - (got £20 on phone now) - spoke to some woman who asked me to turn off the modem and said she'd be gone 2 minutes. EIGHT minutes later I gave up on her and re rang the number. Got another girl who told me to click on start and then 'run' - Not sure about anyone else but I haven't got 'run' on my W7. Anyway, I knew she meant to say - all progs, accessories then command prompt - I did all that the day before. She also went off - for a minute, she said - I got cut off again.

Furious now and £10 lighter on the phone, I rang the section to close the account. Vented my spleen to a nice young girl who must get it all the time. She said she would deduct money from the bill and I could have a free month then she put me through to the second line of defence. He was much more savvy about computers and we got it sorted in no time at all.

I have still got the 'timed out' prob on Thunderbird which won't let me send emails. SIGH!

I bet you all thought I'd gone off on another holiday!

You poor thing. :(

So sorry to hear all your sad news! When I don't have internet I feel like I have lost an arm or something...

My Easter has not been the best either. On Saturday evening, a whole plate of curry fell onto our almost new (pale coloured) carpet. :0

We spent all of Sunday trying to remove it. Goodness knows what it does to our insides - it installed itself like no dye I have ever seen. :cray:

I can feel an insurance claim coming on... :(

It is the only sort of time that you ever get from "Customer SERVICE" when it is "outsourced". Even "insourced" is little better. The only difference is that you can sometimes understand what is being said to you, if the insourced is not using cheap immigrant labour.

However look to the future with confidence, because that lovely Mr Mandelspon is going to give access to this sort of service to every person in the country ....won't that be nice.

All that having been said I do hope you get your machine back to it's former state of well being soon.

Reminds me of when I had just bought a new pastel coloured rug and tripped on the edge of it (forgot it was there) spewing a plate of spag bol all over the place. We did get it out eventually.....

Sorry about the INTERNET problems, I will say this for Virgin, they are far better on support that NTL were.

Changing the subject, we did very well once out of an insurance company regarding carpet. We damaged a cheap dining room rubber backed carpet. The company gave us a figure to spend up to, and I got a quite for a Wilton carpet on offer at 25% dearer than the insurance company's offer. they told me to go ahead.cool.gif

Those were the days! By the time you've paid the excess these days it's not worth the effort.
