I must admit that I can see no need for partitions on my computer. They would seem to be more trouble than they are worth. My main hard drive of 250 GB is more than enough for all my programs, photographs etc, and my second hard drive of 150GB has one copy of the latest ACRONIS back up, plus another copy of my photographs. I have an 80GB plug in hard drive which contains all my downloaded programs, plus another copy of my photographs. I also have a 1TB plug on hard drive for all my ACRONIS back ups. So have no need whatsoever for partitions. Lets face it too, if one partition is damaged, doesn't this ruin the whole drive? I also have four memory sticks.B)

Although I don't have a use for this myself, I know people who do.

A general point for these Give-Away-of-the-Day offers. It is usually necessary to download AND install the programs within the 24 hour offer period. It is of no use doing the download then saving it "for a rainy day". This doesn't apply in all the offers but quite frequently does.

Another point about Give-Away-of-the-Day. Sometimes (quite often, in fact) the giveaway program is not of the best quality so care should be taken with the downloads. The program offered here is a good one, however.

I posted the thread to advise those who may need a reputable partitioning programme that there is one here for free.

I am not sure what point you are making - I really didn't expect those who did not need it to download a copy. Like you, I have separate hard drives for the OS/programs and data. But I am frequently called on by friends and family to repair or tweak their computers. Hence, having this program in my toolbox will be very useful.

Anyone new to computing I would advise to take andsome's post with a pinch of salt, and know that it is just his personal opinion, and not legitimate technically. I was quite suprised that he posted it, especially after Pat's explanation the other day.

Seriously, I can still see no reason for partitioning a drive when you have my set up. I cannot see any advantage. This is fine for those who want to use partitions, but I have never partitioned a drive in my life, and none of my friends have either.

I get really uppity when people start to post "Wrong Information", or something that has got bugger all to do with the original post on forums.

You done this when I posted about "God Mode" andsome. And now when AlanHo very kindly posts us a link to some free software, you start to run off at the mouth about all the equipment you've got in the house with the exception of the energy saver lightbulbs. (Like I say. Nothing to do with the original post.)

Bugger all in fact, to do with the original post, and a complete rejection of what myself, AlanHo, and Pat Willener said the other day about partitioning. If you feel so strongly against partitioning, why didn't you join in on that thread and say so. Just come right out and say "You are all wrong".

Posts like yours are just pure bloody ignorance because you didn't even have the decency to say thank you for the link.

Having started this thread - I thought it appropriate for me to download and try the programme.

I must say it is fairly easy to use - not as user friendly or as attractive an interface as Paragon Partition magic - but a good utility programme.

Us Windows 7 users have no need for such 3rd party software - the partitioning tools provided by Win 7 disc management are very user friendly and partitioning is much faster than any other program I have tried.

Hence I will only use EASEUS when I am working on XP or Vista machines.

I think you are in line for a heart attack if you go on like that. What is wrong with having a different opinion to you? I think Alan knows me well enough not to take offence like you have. For pity's sake calm down. It is still my opinion that it is far better to have a completely separate extra hard drive than to partition one which could fail taking all the partitions with it. I humbly beseech you not to be offended by my difference of opinion.:lol:

Quite true! But Mahler's music is so much more beautiful than boring old Beethoven that I think Andsome's statement is not so far off.

So true. I am at present hiring all of Mahler's symphonies on DVD conducted by Bernstein and making my own copies. Up to number 6 at present and waiting for delivery of the others. I already have them all on CD by various conductors.:) :)
