When you order food at the bar in some pubs, they give you a wooden spoon with a number painted on it. You then display it on your chosen dining table so that the waiting staff can find you when your order is ready. ;)

Up here in God's own country Brit things tend to be a bit thin on the ground.

You may be given a wooden spoon, with which to eat your Yorkshire pudding, but for anything else it would seem bizarre.
