Red Nose Day

We are being urged to do something silly on Red Nose Day - which is Friday 18th March.

I shall be sitting at my computer in just my Pyjamas, wearing a red nose and typing my thought for today at breakfast time, before streaking through the local nudist colony fully clothed.

One of my mates lives in a local tower block of council flats. His gas meter ran out of coins, he had no loose change and he was a bit surprised when none of the other tenants had change for a fifty pound note. My next contibution for Red Nose day will be to sell him 9 pound coins for a tenner and give him a red nose to keep him warm.

What are you going to do for a good cause?

I'm avoiding it most determinedly. Two main reasons:

1. Do they participants have no consideration for genuine sufferers of rhinophyma (the condition that manifests itself as an engorged red nose as illustrated by WC Fields)?

2. Why don't the "celebrities" taking part in this embarrassathon avoid inflicting the indignities to themselves and others by quietly slipping a few quid of their own vast fortunes to the charities or is it all to do with self promotion?

I have already sponsored that young woman who did a tightrope walk. Bought raffle tickets in the local Sainsbury's, and made a donation on line. I avoid the TV programme for the same reason that I avoid the children in need programme, I just cannot stand the awful noise and screaming. I ALWAYS donate though.B)

I never give to collectors rattling tins. We found out that a lot of the charities give the collectors a portion of the donations.

Please give generously to Comic Relief.

Just £30,000 is enough to send a washed up, B-list comedian and a film crew on an all expenses paid holiday to Africa.

I haven't seen one Red Nose in any of our local shops this week. It looks like they are not willing to participate in the festivities. Which is good as far as I'm concerned.

As far as I know, only Sainsbury's are participating.

So that's is why I haven't seen any, we haven't got a Sainsburys. :D
