Hi dont know if you can help - funny thing is that this program has been sold and AFAIK to the people who worked there - said it was happening on Dec 1st but had not worked out charges but no longer any free photos. I emailed them and got auto reply will be back thousands to answer bla bla.

And have just got an answer - again didnt say price or how anything just that they had taken over and download new photo program called Smile. And a link. I downloaded but haven't opened it, because when I went to their site to register as requested then said -

"click next and for your convenience we will download all the photos on your computer".

'

Can they just do that? I dont like the sound of it so haven't gone any farther because I once uploaded 3 photos for my sister in the UK - and later saw 2 of them - me and my dog and my dog alone on an Advertisement. Never uploaded any more and anyway got her own computer etc.

FYI link www.webshots.com still works

Is there some way to make sure they cannot upload my photos ? Maybe some way to password protect or maybe to shift them to my external HD I use as a back up?

Not sure that would work as some programs like SAS check that drive too for spyware etc.

Well without running the program it's difficult to see what level of control you have on what it accesses. I'm just wary of a site that says everybody using it will have to pay a subscription but can't even give vague guidelines on when this will happen or how much it's going to cost. Way way too vague for my liking.

Smile starts by gathering your photos into one place, importing from services like Instagram, Facebook and Flickr, as well as all of the devices where you store images: phones, computers, cameras.

We have two primary goals with Smile: 1) to create a single permanent library for all your photos, and 2) to allow you to share photos instantly with your closest friends and family.

We hope you’ll let us know what you think.

Do Webshots members have to pay again?

If you are an existing Webshots Gold or Platinum member, your subscription transfers to Smile – and you do not have to pay until your subscription is up for renewal.

If you don't want to undergo this delight - then don't use Smile

OK Guys confirms my thoughts - I am very cynical these days it is all about money - for their pockets and bugger anyone who doesn't like it etc etc.

So next thing is I guess carry on and wait to see if the photo manager carries on carrying on so to speak. Cant move the photos as locked by some code.

I cant believe in this day and age that it is taking so long to come up with a price - makes me wonder if they got sold a patsy and/or simply havent got a 'leader' but arguing etc - whatever - not too many will stick around if not resolved. My sub up anyway Jan15 th and so wont renew but not even game to go to next step and lose God only knows - hey there's a thought maybe they think some may have some good porn stuff to grab and sell on........

Thanks for the input appreciated.
