Maintenance in Progress Icon on ASUS X102 Active

Recommended Posts

I have a Asus X102 Laptop that I use on holidays.

Currently I have many important updates to install but I'm stopped from doing this because there is an icon which says "Maintenance in Progress".

This has been going on for some hours.

Questions:-

1 Is this normal that the Maintenance should take this long?

2 How do I install the updates in this situation?

Please note I have been into the "Action Centre" & turned of the Automatic Maintenance, but I still can't install the updates.

What is the problem?

OK, I used method 1 of the idea proposed & was advised that nothing needed fixing.

So I did a "Systems Restore"

The Laptop now advises that "Installing update 1 of 11" "do not switch off".

Problem!

It's been installing item 1 for over an hour

Do I switch off & abort the process, or will this lead to other problems?

Or how long should I keep the current process running?

I've now got to the position that I can log on again.

Have gone to the Control Panel & checked for updates.

There are 78 important items.

Selected 8 of these, so as not to overload the M/c, & after 2 hours still being told "Downloading Updates 0% complete"

So what advise can I be given?

Been a bad day, can't now even get it to tell me the updates that are outstanding.

Been "Checking for Updates" for ages.

Is this because the main Server is being used because a lot of people are connecting to it?

To ensure it's not my connection I've connected with a cable to the router

Possible, not much I can add from here.

You could try PCAdviser the forum is not quite what it was but still got more regular members than we do currently, may be worth seeing if anybody else can come up with something constructive.

The only thing that I can add, is that I too installed some updates recently and my PC also showed 0% for ages. Just stay with it, Johnoo. Try to be patient. Mine did eventually ( and suddenly) show a high percentage, but it did take a long time for some reason. :)

Thanks to you all for the interest, I have not replied for two reasons:-

1 I have not been getting e mails to advise of replies, even though looking at the top I am following this thresd!

2 A friend is currently looking at my machine to see if he can find any faults.

Will advise you all of outcome

Johnoo, check your 'My settings' to see if the option is selected:

Yes, solved, but I decided to post to this thread on the problem of getting replies.

The original problem of Maintenance in Progress & laptop refusing to update was solved after many try's to update, for some reason(s) the laptop refused to do this.

We have an idea that it got confused as so many updates were outstanding (my fault), but after time it sorted itself.

So I now just await Craig to advise if my settings are correct
