Dear Friends and Colleagues. 

 

Notice is hereby given that I will be away for the rest of the Day because of Dog Sitting.

 

I am going to be sitting my Daughter In Law's dog while they go to Newcastle Arena to see Pink Floyd tonight. My presence on this Forum will be there by be Governed to my return later tonight. When later is, I have not got a clue.

No Balatucadrus, fortuneatly for me he slept nearly all night. I've never been so bored in all my day's. I meant to take my iPad up there with me but forgot it.

I used to have to dog sit my brothers two Alsatians when he visited my parents from up near Inverness. Lovely dogs but they convinced me my dog owning days were long long gone. Keeping an eye on somebody elses dog, as you said boring as hell.

I've never had nine boring hour's like it Belatucadrus. Had I remembered to take my iPad it would have been totally different. But this old brain don't work like it used to. I hope it's a long time to never when they ask me again.

Battersea Dog's Home. Now there's an Idea David. Taking him down there would bore him to tears.

I grew up in the shadow of the Battersea Dogs Home, or rather as my Mum would comment under the coal smuts of Battersea Power Station

I had a friend that lived in a row of Colliery houses. There where two long rows of these Houses leading to the New Pit (as it was called). It had been working for God knows how many Years and had a monsterous Pit Heap on the North side of it. When a North Eastern or Northerly wind used to blow everything used to be covered in coal-dust. They had to keep their door's and windows closed, and this was in the summer, but everything used to be covered in Coal Dust just the same. It was a relentless task Vacuuming and dusting to keep the stuff building up. If you were to go there today all you can see is a Landscaped Park were the old Pit Heap used to be.

In the 1950s I can remember Mum having a damp "Floor Cloth" by the washing line to wipe it before she hung out the laundry.

There was no point in putting the washing out where I was brought up. It would need re-washing by the time it was dry.

I know what you mean pops. Where I used to live when I was a kid there was so much soot in the air from coal fires that it was next door to a waste of time hanging washing out.

I remember the smogs we used to get. If you blew your nose your handkerchief was black.
