Like I said I didn't think you had the msconfig option in xp but it is ok because I have system mechanic that lets me edit my start up folder, which I just have.... shall I reboot then and see what happens?????

no Ellas, I right clicked on my c drive in my computer and set the comp to repair errors on the disk at next boot up in the properties option.

As you can see I am here anyway which is further than I got earlier. I was still a bit sticky at start up but at least I am not frozen out any more.

Thank you.... wonder what caused all that then? :huh:

Oh big Grrrrr........... it's doing it again. Gonna shut down soon and do the recovery thing or repair with the xp disk. I don't mind so much now because we have the hot fix download thing which is only 9mb instead of nearly 50mbs :)

Sorry Nellie had to go out. :(

Info on ctfmon here can be a bit of a resource hog occasionally.

Glad you found msconfig :D

NeroCheck = C:\WINDOWS\System32\NeroCheck.exe is something relating to Incd I believe, altho I have Nero I never use Incd as it has caused probs for some XP users.

The following

NvCplDaemon = RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup

nwiz = nwiz.exe /install

you can launch from programs when required

QuickTime Task = "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

I got rid of completely from my system, didn't like quick time.

I think nels probs are deeper than a few startup programs running.

Not having a lot of luck with x\p nell. :(

I agree with ellas and

does cause probs on some machines.

Every thing in msconfig \ startup can be turned off and the machine rebooted without any adverse results. ( except virus checking if conecting to the net.)
