andsome Posted April 20, 2018 Report Share Posted April 20, 2018 Owls are lovely birds. I was lucky enough some time ago at a Warner’s hotel to carry one on my arm for an hour. Belatucadrus Posted April 20, 2018 Author Report Share Posted April 20, 2018 Contrary to legend Owls are not wise, apparently all the wiring in the skull is optimised for prey detection at night. Their ability to find and locate precisely mice etc by sight and sound is second to none. Unfortunately this leaves very little capacity for thought. So in an avian IQ test crows rule. catgate Posted April 20, 2018 Report Share Posted April 20, 2018 Prior to moving to our present abode we lived for several years in a bungalow that had several apple trees in the garden behind it. A pair of owls made a nest in one of them. They roosted in that tree all the time we were there. It was wonderful how they flew in and then talked to each other quietly for may be half an hour before going to sleep. I often wonder if it was the same pair all the time we were there.
