AlanHo Posted October 20, 2018 Report Share Posted October 20, 2018 I keep it small by creating a new pst file at the end of each year and transferring all the current year's files to it. For example :- Archive 2016 Archive 2017 Archive 2018 I can then back up just the current year's files as the year goes by to minimise back-up and restore times. It is easy to open a particular archive file in Outlook to review an old post when needed. I worry about splitting and rejoining large files - I have been the victim of a few disasters. In this case it's four years old and Sana John hasn't visited the forum since October 2018, Ergo well intentioned answers have been rather wasted. If you're a spammer pushing your own file splitter then don't be too surprised if the commercial link gets excised as it breaks forum rules. Reduce Outlook Mailbox Size Using Move To Folder Option: Outlook makes it easy to partition PST files into smaller chunks. Start by clicking the “More” tab, followed by “New View,” and finally click “Move to Folder.” Click on File tab > Account Settings > Account Settings To create a new PST file, click on the Data Files tab and the Add button. Go to the Home screen, open the default PST file and select the items you want to move to a new PST file you created. To create a copy of a file, click on the MOVE button from the top and select the COPY TO FOLDER option. Next, choose the PST file from the copy the selected items to the folder option and click OK.
