Chris Posted February 3, 2004 Report Share Posted February 3, 2004 I think the main reason is to do with outdated Hardware for what XP requires...People have become acustomed to "their" operating system, probably Windows 98. They know how everthing works, where all the settings are...and generally just get on with Windows 98.When using XP it is different to previous Windows and i think this is what people hate, its something to get to grips with.But one you have got to grips with it...you won't look back.Also the stabilty of XP is far superior to previous Window versions. There seem to be so few problems that the majority of people face and tasks that were fairly complex and intricated before now seem so simple.If you don't like the colours then 4 clicks of a mouse and they could be gone - its a fairly lame reason for not liking something - similar to saying you don't like a car because they only sell it in yellow!?There are specific reasons (software/hardware) where XP doesn't suit but these are tending to be the minority. don't ask Posted February 4, 2004 Report Share Posted February 4, 2004 XP doesn't really require S.O.T.A. specs...just a PC not much older than a couple of years!!!Shirl.nothing to do with the specs of the PC - more the specs (and age) of the drivers and other software that I wanted on my PC - I couldn't find an XP driver for my scanner and XP wouldn't let me load the version of Adaptec that came with my USB CDRW - couldn't afford new scanner or newer version of Adaptec stuff. :blush: It was a replacement PC for a P2-400 and came with XP Pro preloaded (not that I could afford the XP disk either) but I tried it out and it was not suitable for my requirements :unsure: :D Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I don't recall hearing any complaints about XP on a new or near new computer. If you don't like the appearance, you can always select 'Classic Mode'.
