Andy-2004
I would sujest a few things....1. Run spybot S&D then fix everything...same with Adware6...and then a virus scan....then try again....if you get the same problem....copy and paste the contents of the .txt file that pops up into a post (the full contents)Then run HJT and hit save log and also copy THE WHOLE LOG into here.....P.s....Opps  ...now how you gona run spybot if it dont open  ....just try the HJT log (Hijack This)

Guest ellas
I think the problem maybe that some types of file extensions got associated with notepad that shouldn't be.For example, maybe all files ending in '.exe' got associated with notepad. So whenever you doubleclick a file with the extension '.exe' notepad tries to open it.You need to check the extensions that are associted with notepad. To do this, you simply go to:Tools--> folder Options -->File Types You will then see a list of known extentions, and what applications those extentions are associated with.Generally speaking, only '.txt' and '.log' types of files should be associted with notepad('.doc' and '.rtf' should be associated with wordpad). If you find something is associated with notepad that shouldn't be,then hit the "change" button to change the extension association. The next time you dclick on a file with that extension, notepad will no longer try to open it. if that does not work I have no idea. Agent Smith
Besty, I have a sneaking suspicion that you have a virus. The symptoms you describe are remarkably similar to the Swen virus.I would like you to have a look at these links please.http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_100662.htmhttp://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/The second link is for the stinger scanning tool, but read the instructions as you may have trouble running it. Please have a look at the first link and tell me if you think this may be your problem.Did this problem occur after recieving an email?Regards. Mr. M.
